Outreach & Partnerships

One of the distinctive differences in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture at UNH is it's commitment to outreach. Outreach is that effort undertaken by our faculty along with our main outreach partner, Cooperative Extension, in getting the lessons learned in the lab out to the citizens of our state where they can apply this knowledge in their daily lives. Outreach efforts by the college today include many other partnerships as well as our traditional one with Cooperative Extension. Our faculty often find themselves wearing several hats these days; one for teaching, one for research and one for outreach. This effort to reach out is not a new one; it dates back to the founding days of the University on New Hampshire in the 19th century. And it helps us chart a course into the 21st century.

Scientific research in the 21st century has come to rely on groups of people across diverse areas working on a problem together. Charting the human genome blended genetics with biochemistry with computer science; charting the changes in our oceans can involve marine biologists teamed with oceanographers teamed with climatologists teamed with GIS specialists. Finding solutions for the research problems that face our faculty often times rely on the partnerships they form with colleagues in other disciplines for results.

On this page we have highlighted some of our key partners in the three areas (teaching, research and outreach) that are important to the mission of our college. Many times these partners play a role in more than just one area, sometimes in all three at once. We invite you to explore their pages as well as our own to find out more information on the richness and talents that make up the faculty in our college.
